Just like para judo, para swimming, cecifoot and para track cycling, para athletics could also bring together numerous French fans on site and behind the small screen. To be followed from August 30 to September 8, 2024, para athletics takes place at the Stade de France and promises us some great sporting moments, between the long jump, the shot put and the 1500 m.
But can France hope for one or more medals in para-athletics? The question remains unanswered for the time being, but several French athletes are worth keeping an eye on, such as Nantenin Keïta, who is expected to compete in the 100-meter and 400-meter T13 events. The T11 to T13 categories cover the visually impaired.
Designated flag-bearer for the French delegation to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, alongside Alexis Hanquinquant, Nantenin Keïta boasts quite a track record!
The Franco-Malian para-athlete, daughter of Malian musician Salif Keïta, won bronze in the 400 m and silver in the 200 m at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. Then, at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Nantenin Keïta came third in the 100 m event, before reaching her goal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games by winning gold in the 400 m. Nantenin Keïta also holds two world championship titles in the 400 m in 2006 and 2015, and a gold medal in the 200 m in 2006.
So, will the para-athlete win a fifth Paralympic medal this summer in Paris at her last Games? We hope so, and the French will be right behind her at the Stade de France over the next few days.
But what channel, what days and what time will you be watching Nantenin Keïta in para-athletics? Starting on September 3, Nantenin Keïta will take to the track at the Stade de France for the 100 m event. If all goes to plan, she'll take part in the final that evening. She'll be back on September 5 for the 400 m.
The Paris Paralympic Games can be followed on France Télévisions Group channels, including France 2, France 3 and France 5.
