Want to get in shape (or get back in shape)? Located at 14 boulevard Saint Martin in Paris's 10th arrondissement , Carbonne is a new hybrid gym offering group workouts to firm up your body. The workout is inspired by pilate reformer to create deep, targeted muscle-strengthening classes.
At Carbonne, you only get 50-minute group classes called Méthode Carbonne. The concept? A sequence of exercises divided into 3 parts: 15 minutes of reformer abs for the abs, 15 minutes of booty builder for the buttocks and 15 minutes of intense kettlebell for the back, arms and thighs. The aim is to complete 3 rounds in 5 minutes per exercise.
For the abs reformer, the 3x5 minutes take place on a pilate reformer machine, unlike theintense kettlebell, which takes place standing with a kettlebell, and the booty builder, where you alternate between chairs and hip thrust using a weight bar.
The Carbonne Method is rated for all levels on the gym's website, but you should be aware that the exercises are still pretty tough. However, you will be monitored and supported by a coach who will give you advice throughout the session.
You'll need non-slip socks for your session at Carbonne, and towels are available on site. Skin care and beauty products are also available in the changing rooms. Classes are limited to 12 participants, and reservations are made via their website.
In terms of price, a session will cost you €45, but a trial offer is available for €30. The welcome pack with 3 classes is €90, 5 classes €215 and 10 classes €405. If you want to firm up your body and build muscle, the Carbonne Method from Carbonne seems to be effective, even if we only tested one session and not several over the long term.
