The Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation is getting a makeover! The establishment reopens its doors in a brand new location from November 6, 2018, a stone's throw from Place de la République, rue des Archives, in Paris's 3rd arrondissement to be more precise. A larger space, welcoming more visitors and focusing on education with, from now on, the possibility of welcoming school groups.
According to the Foundation, the move is not necessarily a move at all, but rather a "development": a change of location, ambition and team, for a space designed in"a spirit of transparency and communication". The Foundation has moved into a former garage converted by the architects of theNovo agency, and now boasts a research library and larger archives, in addition to exhibition spaces. The emphasis is also on reception and mediation.
The programming remains similar to that already on offer, with exhibitions of old and contemporary photographers responding to each other. As for the collection, nearly 50,000 original prints are now preserved, as well as 200,000 negatives and contact sheets, 1,500 books, 4,500 letters and manuscriptsand 6,000 press articles, publications and documents... All brought together for the first time in one place. A good reason to take a look... Shall we go, friends?
