What a wonderful discovery John Weng is, an Asian restaurant that's off the beaten track in terms of decoration, atmosphere and even food, with dishes that blend traditional cuisine with world dishes, and a menu that's not lacking in originality!

John Weng is an Asian bistro offering generous, tasty and varied cuisine in a setting that's a far cry from the clichéd Asian restaurants we're used to frequenting.

Indeed, the decor is modern. We love the ambience, the low and high wooden tables, the large bar and the small lounge area for cocktails without necessarily having to dine (in the 10th arrondissement). The cocktail menu is also Asian-inspired. Try a Japanese Samba with sake, vodka and cane sugar, a Lychee Martini ( vodka, triple sec, lychee juice, crème de cassis, lychee) or a Harakiri with tequila, lemon juice, triple sec, japeno and cane sugar. All to be sipped in a pleasant musical atmosphere.

In terms of cuisine, the menu is a gentle blend of Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese dishes. You'll find classics like shrimp gyozas (8.5€), egg rolls (7.5€) and the inevitable bo buns with beef, chicken, tofu, raw salmon... But also more original dishes with Asian flavors, such as Udon with Thai basil pesto (15€), which you'll be telling us all about. Or the Ramen Burger (18.5€), prawn and satay caramel cromesquis (crispy, creamy risotto), wonton tacos with Asian pickles (8€) or fried ravioli with cream cheese (8.5€).

Finally, Asian-influenced desserts with a touch of pizzazz, such as tiramisu, lychee and rosewater (9€), profiteroles with green tea, white chocolate and black sesame (8€), and delicious sticky Rice Rolls with exotic fruits and coconut.

In short, here's a good Asian bistro with 2 addresses, in the 17th and 10th arrondissements. We liked the setting, far from clichés, the modern, well-cared-for decor, but above all the menu, with its original twist on Asian flavors, not forgetting the kindness of the attentive, smiling waiters! And all at reasonable prices! It's up to you to try...
