Welcome home! That's the motto that might suit Beyït Jedo, the Lebanese restaurant that opened on Avenue Daumesnil at the end of 2017. Indeed, Beyït Jedo means "At my grandfather's" and Marie, the owner of the place, tells us the story of this little resto, which happens to be a real family affair!
While the recipes (delicious, by the way) come from her father, it was her grandfather who inspired her to imagine Beyït Jedo. From the colorful paintings to the books, telephones and photos on the shelves and tables, everything either belonged to or referred to the patriarch!
As for the food, we opt for a mezze to share, ideal for those who can't decide between hummus (6€), kebbé (6€), a Lebanese burger (15€ with Batata harra) or grilled meats (9-13€). For 40€ for two, we're brought a large platter of traditional dishes from the land of the Cedars! Eggplant caviar, tabbouleh (the kind with parsley, not semolina), falafel, cheese and meat turnovers (samboussek), hummus, jawaneh (chicken wings with coriander and lemon), everything is delicious and concocted with finesse.
Encouraged by this beautiful mezze, we can't resist sharing a gourmet tea... and we won't regret it! A blend of pistachio, cream and fig, the flavors are full of sweetness and we appreciate the lightness of these sweet touches.
With its low prices and beautiful plates, Beyït Jedo could well become your new HQ!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
