Café Poète opened its doors on April 5. Created by Romain and Célia, a duo wishing to honor French gastronomy, but also art and culture. Defining the place as an artistic bistro, they wanted to create a timeless universe for lunch, dinner, aperitif or brunch.
The restaurant boasts an attractive bohemian-inspired terrace, perfect for sunny days. Inside, Romain and Célia plunge us into an artistic atmosphere with antique decorations, knick-knacks, bookcases and hushed banquettes. The upstairs room has the feel of an artist's studio.
Comfortably seated, the waiters come to you with current suggestions and additional information. The menu offers different choices for lunch, dinner and brunch, although you'll find the same main courses in each. There's a choice ofstarters, main courses and desserts from French cuisine, as well as some Italian dishes. For starters, you can try the sea bream tartare with avocado purée, or the very fresh gazpacho with watermelon and basil. There are also Italian starters such as arancini or San Daniele, a plate of Italian ham .
As for the main course, there's a wide range of choices on the menu, including vegetarian options. If you fancy a good piece of red meat, the butcher's cut with pepper sauce would be the right choice. The accompaniment is up to you, and we recommend the homemade ratatouille, which is very good. We also tried the chicken paillard marinated in five spices and lemons, which was very tender and well seasoned.
For dessert, you once again have a wide range of choices à la carte. For a lighter dessert, you can opt for red fruit and whipped cream, but for the more indulgent, tiramisu or chocolate cake with dulce de leche heart should be more appropriate.
Café Poète is a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the streets outside at lunchtime, and conversely to enjoy a moment of conviviality in the evening, when the neighborhood streets are emptier.
