Conveniently located between the Bourse and the Grands Boulevards, Stock is a friends' business. Set up by four friends, Alexandre Mignot, Benjamin Obédé, Maxime Nigard and Ludovic Senejoux, all with backgrounds in catering and events, the restaurant stands out from the local scene in several respects.
With its Mediterranean decor and 70's accents, the work of architects Arnaud and Bénédict Buisson. Full of shapes, arches and niches, the restaurant is a tangy little bonbon, with its bespoke orange velvet banquettes, its naughty and colourful fresco by Morgane Rozel and its relics straight from the past, like this telephone with a bright orange dial.
And it's affordable, too, with lunch menus at a very affordable price. In detail, you can expect to pay €16 for a main course, €19.90 for a starter/main course or main course/dessert, or €24.90 for a starter/main course/dessert, with two options to choose from: starters, main courses and desserts. There's even a 10% discount for students!
But also by the duality of its menu, which reveals a bistronomic face (the aforementioned menu supplemented by plates to share at dinner) and a more street-food face with a selection of three sandwiches close to the heart of chef Théo Badalucco (ex-L'Orangerie, Les Résidents): a fricassé sandwich (11€), a lamb confit sandwich (12€) and a competition grilled cheese (9€) with gruyère, cheddar and tangy pesto verde.
These three sandwiches can be taken as and when you like, and come with their own lunch formulas: €13.90 sandwich/drink, €16.90 sandwich, side, drink, €19.90 sandwich, side, drink, dessert. The entire menu is based on cutting-edge sourcing, with meats from Boucheries Nivernaises, seafood from Poissonnerie Leca Marée, fruit, vegetables and dairy products from Natoora and bread from Boulangerie Union.
So, will you be more into indecent sandwiches or bistronomic plates with transalpine accents, like this delicate pastry and parmesan tartlet or this parmigiana with pesto and parmesan?
Where there's good food, there's good drink, and Stock boasts a well-stocked cellar of organic wines, their own beer (7.50 a pint) and a cocktail menu by mixologist Lorenzo Dos Santos Do Jesus, who has put together a short menu of 6 minimalist, raw cocktails, each focusing on a dominant flavor - lemon, tea, chipotle and even... tzatziki.
It's even rumored that on certain evenings at Stock, the atmosphere is danceable - not to say wild!
