Have you always dreamed of climbing aboard the legendary Orient-Express, or even enjoying an exceptional meal? It will soon be possible (albeit with a small budget). But you'll have to wait a little longer, as the launch is scheduled for 2026.
TheOrient-Express, a veritable symbol of luxury travel since its creation in 1883 by Georges Nagelmackers, has left its mark on people's minds with its journeys linking "the West to the East". After being scattered across Europe and finally found in Poland in 2015 thanks to meticulous research work, its 17 carriages, including sleeping cars, saloons and a dining car, were repatriated to France in 2018. The famous rail brand, was acquired by the Accor group in 2022. In collaboration with LVMH, its aim is to give it new impetus through the opening of luxury hotels and the launch of majestic sailing ships.
A prestigious collaboration enriches this project. Yannick Alléno, chef to 15 stars, will bring his innovative culinary vision to the two Orient-Express dining cars. A regular in short-lived collaborations with the brand, Alléno will draw inspiration from the landscapes and terroirs he travels through to create menus that sublimate French and global gastronomic traditions. He says he wants to"imprint a reforming vision of cuisine on this iconic place steeped in history".
This collaboration is part of Accor's broader ambition to revive the Orient Express by combining sophistication, innovation and excellence. At the same time, the brand is diversifying with the launch of the Orient Express Corinthian sailing ship in the summer of 2026, which will also feature a table designed by Yannick Alléno and other high-end gastronomic experiences.
Competing with the Venice Simplon Orient Express, run by Belmond (LVMH Group), Accor's Orient-Express promises to redefine the standards of luxury rail travel. While details of fares and frequency of travel are still sketchy, the excitement surrounding this project continues to grow. An extraordinary adventure seems within reach for travel and gastronomy enthusiasts, between historical heritage and culinary innovation.
