From January 2025, public transport in the Île-de-France region will change, with a single fare of €2.50 for metro and RER journeys. However, the Pass Navigo Liberté + offers an economical solution, reducing the cost to €1.99 per journey. Registration for this offer is now open, and we recommend that you act before the end of the year to receive your badge in time.

We've already talked about it, but at the start of January, the fare structure in the Ile-de-France region will change completely. A single fare of €2.50 has been introduced for the entire region. To reduce the bill, you can opt for the Pass Navigo Liberté +, which reduces the fare to €1.99. Currently valid only in Paris, from January onwards you'll be able to travel throughout the Paris region at this price, whether you're going to the Eiffel Tower or Fontainebleau. To get your card on time in January, you'll need to register in advance. We tell you all about it.

Île-de-France Mobilités is introducing a simplified system to harmonize fares with the new fare structure scheduled to go into effect on January 2, 2025. Farewell to paper tickets and traditional ticket books. A one-way ticket will cost €2.50 on the metro and RER, while bus and streetcar journeys will cost €2. For regular or occasional travelers, the Pass Navigo Liberté + offers a low fare of €1.99 per journey for the metro, RER and trains, and €1.60 for buses and streetcars, including free connections.

Pass Navigo Liberté lets you travel à la carte, with no commitment or minimum duration, and track your spending online or on the app. You only pay for the journeys you use!

How does it work? You spend your pass on each journey, the total is calculated at the end of the month and billed to you at the beginning of the following month.

Registering for the Pass Liberté + is simple and requires an online application on the Île-de-France Mobilités website. Once your profile has been created, you'll need to provide your bank details, a photo and pay an €8 processing fee.

On average, it takes 10 days to receive a Navigo badge, but with the increase in demand, this could rise to three weeks. Those who already have a Navigo badge can update it at RATP and SNCF points of sale or ticket machines to activate their Liberté + subscription.

This post-payment pass is ideal for users making fewer than 20 journeys a month. Beyond that, the monthly Navigo Pass remains more advantageous. Another new feature is that, from spring 2025, it will be possible to use the Pass Liberté + directly on a smartphone via the RATP, SNCF Connect and Île-de-France Mobilités applications.

Last but not least, the range of fares has been enhanced, with a one-way ticket to the airports at €13 and a Pass Visite at €29.90, covering all zones. These changes mark an important step in simplifying travel in the Paris region, with options to suit every type of traveller.
