Passage of the Olympic flame this Saturday: Who are the torchbearers during the relay in Seine-et-Marne?

After two memorable days in the capital, the Olympic flame continues its journey through the Île-de-France region. After Val-d'Oise, and prior to scheduled stops in Yvelines, Hauts-de-Seine and Seine-Saint-Denis, it will head for Seine-et-Marne this Saturday, July 20, 2024. The Olympic flame is due to reach the Tuileries Gardens on July 26, just before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.

But before that, there are still a few stages to go, like the one scheduled for this Saturday in the 77 region. On July 20, 2024, the Olympic flame will pass through several towns between Fontainebleau and Meaux. Residents of Seine-et-Marne can catch a glimpse of the flame in Pontault-Combault, Lagny-sur-Marne, Torcy, Vaires-sur-Marne, Melun, Chelles and Provins.

And to ensure that the Olympic flame can travel from one community to the next, the torchbearers, both famous and unknown, have been called upon. So, who are they? Who has the opportunity to carry this Olympic flame in Seine-et-Marne this Saturday, July 20, 2024?

The official website of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games has revealed the names of these famous torchbearers. This Saturday, curious visitors planning to watch the flame may come across Guy Drut. The runner-up in the 110 m hurdles at Munich 1972 and IOC member is expected to be in Meaux to carry the flame. Other celebrities also expected in Meaux? Influencer and humorist Just Riadh and street artist Jordane Saget. If you happen to be in Fontainebleau, L'Équipe journalist Rachel Pretti has been chosen to carry the Olympic flame this Saturday.

It will be recalled that this summer, the Seine-et-Marne département is to host the rowing and canoeing events at the Olympic Games, and the para-rowing and para-canoeing events at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The Vaires-sur-Marne nautical stadium, to be delivered in June 2019, will be the venue for these events.
