A big day for French triathlon on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 : after the ups and downs of postponing the events, initially scheduled for the previous day on Tuesday, July 30, due to poor water quality in the Seine, the Tricolores picked up two fine medals in the discipline.
After Cassandre Beaugrand's triumph in the women's race, it was Léon Bergère who distinguished himself on the French side in the men's triathlon. With the whistle blown at 10.45 a.m. from the Alexandre III bridge, just after the first women's finishers had left earlier, the event began with an M format (also known as Olympic format), including 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run.

Léon Bergère thus finished third overall in the competition, just ten seconds ahead of Alex Yee, now Olympic triathlon champion at these Paris 2024 Games, and behind New Zealand silver medallist Hayden Wilde, who was surprised at the last minute by Yee. Pierre Le Corre, the other French athlete in the running, finished just off the podium, in fourth place, as didEmma Lombardi in the women's event. The four of them put in some excellent performances and will certainly form the mixed triathlon relay for the French team.
