News of the day

On Tuesday, Lucas Didier (men's singles MS9) won his match against Nigerian table tennis player Abiola Wali Adesope, three sets to nil. He has thus qualified for the quarter-finals. Fabien Lamirault (MS2 category) beat Korean Park in the semi-finals. He is therefore guaranteed a medal! On the other hand, Matéo Bohéas failed to beat Poland's Chojniwski in the semi-final (men's singles MS10). The Frenchman therefore missed out on the final, but went home with a bronze medal nonetheless. He also gave France its first medal of the day.

  • In para-swimming, the medals came courtesy of Ugo Didier, who took silver in the S9 100 m backstroke final, and Laurent Chardard. Coming third in the 50 m butterfly S6 final, the swimmer won bronze. For his part, Alex Portal climbed onto the second step of the podium after a fine race in the 200 m 4-swimming event S13. He left with a silver medal!

  • In para-athletics, Marie Ngoussou was the talk of the town on Tuesday. Aged just 15, she was the youngest member of the French team and reached the final of the 100 m (category T47). No medal for sprinter Marie Ngoussou, but a fine 6th place nonetheless!

Saturday, August 31st

  • News of the day

It's been a good day for the French team: we're going to sleep this Saturday evening with eight new medals, including one gold. Les Bleus shone particularly brightly in para-swimming, para-table tennis and para-cycling. These fine results have set the Paralympic stadiums alight, and augur well for the Games as a whole. France is currently 8th on the medal table.
In team sports, the French are currently in a bit of a slump, with the elimination of our wheelchair rugby team in particular. All is not lost, however, as our basketball players are still in with a chance of a medal.
Today's good news is also Anne Hidalgo's announcement: the IOC has given its approval for the Olympic rings to remain on the Eiffel Tower after the end of the Games!
  • Image of the day

The images that touched us today were Dorian Foulon's tears of joy, as he was moved to hear the Marseillaise ring out after his magnificent victory in the individual pursuit, and after breaking the world record in qualifying. A day to remember!
