The world of Pokémon now extends to the land of dreams with Pokémon Sleep! Published by the Pokémon Company International, this new video game invites fans to explore the world of fantastic creatures while improving their quality of sleep. Available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store for Android mobiles, this innovative program has been developed with the aim of making waking up as fun as possible. It should be noted that the app is intended for entertainment purposes only, and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment of sleep disorders.
In terms of gameplay, Pokémon Sleep is both simple and exciting. Users place their mobile device or Pokémon Go Plus + next to their pillow before going to sleep. When they wake up, they can view their sleep statistics and work with Professor Néroli to study Pokémon sleep patterns and record them in Dododex. The more hours of sleep the user accumulates, the stronger Ronflex becomes, enabling more Pokémon to be encountered and more sleeping styles to be discovered. Ronflex can also be strengthened during the day.
In Pokémon Sleep, players are given a "sleep score" based on the length of time they rest. Three types of sleep are recorded in the game: ptidodo, bondodo and grododo. Pokémon with the same sleeping habits as the user gather around Ronflex, and after studying their sleeping styles, the user can feed them Poké Biscuits to increase their affection. Support Pokémon can even help strengthen Ronflex by collecting berries during the day.
Every Monday, users have the opportunity to start a new sleep research cycle in a new zone, offering a variety of Pokémon to discover. Users can also add friends to share sleep information and earn rewards. Finally, the Pokémon Go Plus + accessory (available in Europe from July 21, 2023) can be used in conjunction with Pokémon Sleep, offering the chance to meet a nightcap-wearing Pikachu, who can act as the sixth member of the support team. Combining playful fun with attention to sleep quality, Pokémon Sleep is an innovative addition to the Pokémon universe, transforming the daily activity of sleeping into an exciting adventure.
Our preview of Pokemon Sleep :
A game that the editors were able to try out for a night... at bedtime, nothing too complicated, since all you have to do is launch the application. Be careful, though: we advise you to plug in your phone to avoid the app eating up too much of your battery. Make sure you keep your phone close to you, as the application records the sounds you make.
Pokémon Sleep really comes into its own when you wake up! Once you've woken up (gently, thanks to the app's ringtone) and put an end to the data collection time, you're guided by the app, which tells you what to do. That night, we attracted no less than five Pokémon: Carapuce, Pichu, Osselet and two Obalie! Pokémon that we were able to feed with Poké Biscuits, thus completing the Dododex.
As far as the sleep cycle is concerned, the data is fairly accurate, the night having been eventful, with several awakenings at different times of the night, between light and heavy sleep. This observation is clearly visible on the application, with a certain degree of precision. For the record, we did a "Grododo", i.e. a majority deep sleep cycle of 5 hours, for a total night of 8h27).
An application that stands out for its ability to bring Pokémon to you in the early hours of the morning, continually arousing the interest of users - if you're a Pokémon fan - who will have no trouble coming back each morning to discover the fruit of their sleep, unlike other, more traditional applications of the kind, which, after a week or two, are for the most part already uninstalled. A must-have if you're a Pokémon fan and want to know your sleep cycle!
All we can do now is wait for the app to be released. Happy Pokémon hunting... and good night, folks!
