Did you know? Every Saturday, the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris becomes the scene of a bizarre choreography. Paddles in hand for some, oars for others... What they all have in common is that they all practice a water sport. Every Saturday, the bassin de la Villette water sports center offersrowing, canoeing and kayaking lessons and introductions, and the big advantage is that it's completely free and open to all.
So come and paddle along the Bassin de la Villette, one of Paris's largest watersports areas. At 600 metres long and 65 metres wide, the spot allows you to navigate from the Place de la Bataille de Stalingrad to the Parc de la Villette. You then hire the boat of your choice: oars, double canoes or individual kayaks, and off you go for 45 minutes of free practice.
Water sports sessions are open to all, provided you can swim and can prove your swimming ability with a 50-meter swimming certificate.
When you come, please remember to take with you :
- two identity photos
- a 50-meter swimming certificate
Saturday reservations are essential for the following Saturday: 01 42 40 29 90
While the activity is open to all adults on Saturdays (9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm), it is also open to children aged 12 to 17 on Wednesdays outside school vacations, at the same times. Shall we go paddling?
