A not-to-be-missed festival for all lovers of extreme music, Hellfest will once again celebrate hard rock, thrash metal, black metal, heavy metal, doom, dark folk, classic rock and alternative rock over four days and evenings that promise to be as explosive as they are thunderous.
The 2024 edition, to be enjoyed on Thursday June 27, Friday June 28, Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30, offers festival-goers a host of musical highlights, including Metallica, Tom Morello, Bruce Dickinson, Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth, Machine Head, Mass Hysteria and Kerry King! So many bands and artists to see and hear on Mainstages 1 & 2. Hellfest also features four other stages, including the Valley, dedicated to doom, stoner, dark folk and experimental metal!
If you're a fan of these different musical styles, then you're likely to spend a good part of Hellfest in front of the Valley. That's why we've selected 5 bands and artists for you to see this summer in the Valley for the new edition of Hellfest.
It's worth remembering that the Valley has had a new location on the site since 2023. Gone is the marquee nestled near the Altar - Temple duo, and the Valley stage is now set up not far from the Warzone.
Ever heard ofGreen Lung? This British stoner and doom metal band has released three studio albums to date, the latest of which is entitled"This Heathen Land". Green Lung 's shattering sounds and influences (Deep Purple and Black Sabbath) are sure to enchant you at Hellfest on Thursday June 27.
The intoxicating, soaring world of dark folk comes to the Valley on June 28 with The Devil's Trade. Hailing from Hungary, this band, led by the bewitching voice of Dávid Makó, intends to transform the Valley into a new liminal space. The Devil's Trade won't miss the opportunity to present their latest opus,"Vidékek Vannak Idebenn", released on July 14, 2023 via Season Of Mist.
A healthy dose of post-hardcore awaits you at the Valley on Saturday, June 29, thanks to the appearance of the excellent band Brutus! Already present at Clisson in 2019, the Belgian band is back in better shape than ever with powerful, stripped-down tracks, led by Stijn Vanhoegaerden on guitar, Peter Mulders on bass and Stefanie Mannaerts on drums and vocals. With this trio from Leuven, you're in for a real emotional elevator!
If you've never heard them live, now's the time to catch up! Kvelertak, a band formed in 2007 in Stavanger, Norway, has been criss-crossing Europe since its inception. After opening for Metallica in 2017 and 2018, and a change of singer (Ivar Nikolaisen replacing Erlend Hjelvik in 2018), Kvelertak continues to rise. In September 2023, the band unveiled their opus"Endling", their 5th since 2010! If you're looking for a good dose of death, rock and punk, head for the Valley on June 29.
Chino Moreno returns to Clisson once again. But this time, no Deftones on the menu. Make way for his side project, devised in collaboration with Shaun Lopez (singer of Far). Called ††† (Crosses), this band is far from new to the metal scene, having been formed in 2011. After releasing their debut album,"Crosses", in 2014, the band gave birth to their second record in 2013. It's entitled"Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete." and is likely to be featured prominently on Sunday night during this announced set on the Valley.
As you'd expect, this list is by no means exhaustive, as many other bands and artists are scheduled to perform on the Valley from June 27 to 30, 2024 at Hellfest. What are you planning to see on the Valley this year in Clisson?
