Hellfest has been delighting extreme music fans for 17 years now! This year, the metal festival intends to continue the adventure with a new edition rich in musical nuggets. Taking place from Thursday, June 27 to Sunday, June 30, 2024, the 17th edition of Hellfest is sure to be a feast for the eyes and ears! A host of big names are expected in Clisson this summer, including Metallica, Machine Head, Foo Fighters, Shaka Ponk, Kerry King, Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth and Mass Hysteria! Bands and artists that you'll be able to see and hear by moving in front of the unmissable Mainstages (1 & 2). Hellfest also features four other stages, including the Temple, dedicated to black metal and folk metal!
If you're a fan of these musical styles, then head for the Temple, nestled right next to its sister venue, the Altar. So, we've selected 5 bands and artists for you to see this summer at the Temple for the new edition of Hellfest.
If you haven't heard of Dolch yet, you'd better make a beeline for the Temple on Thursday to discover this hard-hitting combo! Hailing from Berlin, Germany, this band's blend of doom, dark rock, gothic rock and ambient is sure to transport you into a parallel world. Emotion and intensity guaranteed!
While frontman Ihsahn was at Hellfest in 2022, the overpowering Emperor returns to Clisson for the 5th time! This Norwegian band is a reference in the black metal world. Reformed for the third time in 2016, Emperor will be creating a veritable musical mass on Friday night for this new appearance at Hellfest, which is likely to attract a huge following.
Whereas their compatriots The HU won over a large proportion of festival-goers at Hellfest 2023, will Uuhai manage to do as well, or even better? Find out on Saturday June 29, when they take to the stage at the Temple early in the day. Offering folk rock/metal, the members of Uuhai, who hail from Mongolia, will be appearing at Hellfest for the very first time. On the menu? Out-of-this-world sounds, traditional throat singing and the use of horse-head violins! So, are you ready to travel to the land of blue skies?
She's a folk musician from a small, remote corner of the North Atlantic, where the metal scene has its place. Eivør, whose full name is Eivør Pálsdóttir, arrives at Hellfest with her folk sounds and hypnotic voice. Eivør, whom many know from The Last Kingdom soundtrack, has just released a new opus entitled"Enn". The Faroese artist will be delighted to perform her new songs, taking you on a journey to her homeland, where nature is wild and vibrant.
They come to us from Norway, a country where black metal resonates. Their name? Dimmu Borgir! Silenoz, Shagrath and Galder - the three members of the band - are a benchmark in symphonic black metal. For over 30 years now, Dimmu Borgir has been criss-crossing the roads of Europe, delighting the eyes and ears of fans of the genre. For a good dose of symphonic black metal from an unmissable band, head to the Temple on Sunday evening!
Of course, this list is not exhaustive, and many other bands and artists are scheduled to perform at the Temple from June 27 to 30, 2024 at Hellfest. And what are you planning to see on the Temple this year in Clisson?
