This year, Hellfest is inviting over 180 bands to set the Clisson site alight for 4 consecutive days, from June 27 to 30, 2024. Heavy metal, punk, hardcore, black metal, folk metal and thrash metal from France, the UK, the USA, the Faroe Islands, Hungary and even Mongolia... once again, Hellfest is pulling out all the stops to satisfy everyone's tastes.
While Hellfest offers no less than 6 different stages, some festival-goers have an uncontrollable urge to squat in front of the two Mainstages all day long, in order to attend the shows of the leading artists and bands on the metal scene. So, for festival-goers on the festival's two main stages, here are 10 must-see bands on the Mainstages from June 27 to 30, 2024.
Do we really need to introduce the charismatic Kerry King? Celebrated musician-guitarist and co-founder, with Jeff Hanneman, of thrash metal band Slayer, Kerry King returns to Hellfest 5 years after Slayer's huge concert in Clisson. This time, for the set programmed on Mainstage 1 on the first night of the festival, the American artist presents his personal project"From Hell I Rise". Released on May 17, this is the guitarist's first solo album, featuring the singles " Idle Hands " and " Residue ". His appearance at Hellfest is sure to generate some raging wall of death and circle pit action!
Anyone who doesn't know Megadeth, raise your hand! Okay, not many people, obviously. It has to be said that Megadeth, led by Dave Mustaine, is part of the famous'Big Four', alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. In recent years, the American thrash metal band has become a regular at Hellfest. Once again, the foursome are aiming to get festival-goers grooving, with a number of songs that have become anthems in their own right. These include " À Tout le Monde ", " Symphony Of Destruction " and " Holy Wars...The Punishment Due ".
Avenged Sevenfold have become a benchmark of contemporary metal, and this year they'll be headlining Hellfest! This alternative metal band from California, USA, has the honor of lighting up Mainstage 1 on the very first night of Hellfest. Today, the band has more than 20 years of career behind it, and several line-up changes (notably on drums and bass). The combo also boasts 8 albums to its credit, the latest of which is entitled"Life Is But a Dream...". An album that Avenged Sevenfold intend to present to the French public this summer at Hellfest!
Machine Head at Hellfest: one of the must-see concerts in Clisson at the end of June. Robb Flynn and his bandmates are playing several dates in Europe this summer, and have decided to make a stopover at Hellfest, to the delight of their many French fans and festival-goers alike. Needless to say, Machine Head have every intention of setting Hellfest alight with their thunderous, ultra-powerful songs. So don't miss out on Mainstage 1 on Friday night for Machine Head's return to Clisson!

Mass Hysteria, one of the leading fusion metal bands on the French scene, take to Mainstage 1 on Saturday June 29, just a few hours before the Metallica show. The French band opened for Metallica in 2009, when the Californian combo played a huge concert at Les Arènes de Nîmes. And Mass Hysteria, made up of Mouss, Raphaël, Yann, Frédéric and Jamie, are set to set Mainstage 1 alight with a number of their classic hits. Mass Hysteria released"Tenace" in 2023, a two-part opus. So, Furieux, are you ready to get your groove on?
He needs no introduction! Bruce Dickinson, iconic Iron Maiden singer, airline pilot and fencer, returns to Hellfest this summer to defend his latest solo opus,"The Mandrake Project". The album, already presented at theOlympia in Paris last May, was a clear hit. It has to be said that Bruce Dickinson is one of those performers you just can't get enough of. Quite the contrary, in fact! Join him on Mainstage 2, just before Metallica, for his first set as a solo artist at Hellfest.
Two years after their memorable concert at Hellfest, Metallica return to Clissonnais to set the metal festival alight once again, rocking out their hits " Enter Sandman ", " Master of Puppets " and " For Whom The Bell Tolls " with panache and passion. With the band currently in the midst of their European tour, the second leg of their"M72 World Tour", the Four Horsemen are determined to deliver a set as powerful and successful as the one they performed in 2022. For a good dose of Californian-style thrash metal, head for Mainstage 1 on Saturday evening.
A worthy representative of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British heavy metal) alongside Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Saxon continue to fascinate and inspire to this day, almost 50 years after their debut. The years go by, but the songs remain, and the tours continue, much to our delight. After an explosive show with Judas Priest at the Zénith in Paris, Saxon are coming to Hellfest on Saturday June 29 with a set that promises to be thunderous, and driven by the charismatic and indefatigable Biff Byford!
With him, anything is possible live! Britain's Frank Carter, described by many as the enfant terrible of UK punk, will be on Mainstage 2 on Sunday June 30, the final day of Hellfest 2024. A real live performer, Frank Carter is set to deliver a wild, thunderous set alongside The Rattlesnakes. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes ' crazy, over-the-top set is clearly not to be missed, and is sure to make you sweat like never before!
