Extreme music fans are in heaven! Hellfest returns to Clisson for another four days of its 17th edition. Here's a look back at Friday, June 28, 2024 , a day marked by exhilarating concerts by Saint Agnes, Lovebites and Amorphis !

They were the first band to take over Mainstage 2 on Friday June 28. It wasn't easy to wake festival-goers up after an exciting and grueling first day, marked by successful sets from Green Lung and Dark Tranquillity. But Saint Agnes didn't shy away from the challenge, and came through with flying colors. With their dynamic, powerful heavy rock and the infectious energy of singer Kitty A. Austen, the British band even managed to create their first wall of death at the end of their 11am set! A great feat, and a wonderful discovery to kick off the second day of Hellfest!

Festival-goers trickled onto the site in the late morning of the second day of Hellfest, where Machine Head, Shaka Ponk, Tom Morello, Amorphis and Biohazard, among others, were expected. While some were already headbanging in front of the Mainstage and the Temple, others were wandering the festival aisles, sometimes sporting sublime and incredible outfits, like this festival-goer wearing a sparkling red dress.

They hail from Hungary and offer an intimate, minimalist dark folk sound. They are the members of The Devil's Trade. Scheduled at 11:40 on the Valley, the band unfortunately lacked energy live. Nonetheless, their soaring music hypnotized some of the audience present for the occasion. All you had to do was close your eyes and let yourself be carried away on a beautiful musical voyage.

The first real showstopper of the day on June 28 was Japan's Lovebites, who put on a real show on Mainstage 1 around midday. Unlike their compatriots Baby Metal, there was no choreography for them, but instead a real show mixing power metal and heavy metal. Dressed all in white (white being the color worn in Japan to pay homage to the dead), the girls literally took us by storm!

Japanese quintet Lovebites, ultra-smiling and obviously delighted to be programmed at Hellfest, alternated sharp riffs and powerful beats, all driven by the impressive voice of singer Asami. On stage, the girls had a lot of fun and displayed a solid complicity that was a pleasure to see. In short, an invigorating and effective set that augured well for the rest of the day.

They're French, and they're into progressive metal. They are the members of Klone. Scheduled on the Altar stage this Friday, the combo didn't take long to get festival-goers headbanging. The band's compositions are as powerful as they are effective, and their frontman Yann Ligner's haunting vocals are just as captivating.

Many know him as the leader of Leprous. In fact, there were a number of T-shirts bearing the effigy of the famous Norwegian band in the audience. But on Friday afternoon, it was as a solo artist that Einar Solberg took to the Altar stage. For the occasion, the charismatic singer with the overpowering voice took the opportunity to perform several tracks from his first solo album entitled"16". Surrounded by his musicians, including a violinist, Einar delivered a captivating and beautiful set, both sunny and dreamlike.

Supergroup Savage Lands put on a show this Friday afternoon. While the environmental and musical project has a stand at this year's HellCity Square, the band was scheduled to perform on Mainstage 2 on June 28. For the occasion, the combo - created by Sylvain Demercastel and Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) - had invited several prestigious artists on stage, including Alejandro Montoya (Cultura Tres), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Chloé Trujillo and Silje Wergeland (The Gathering). The icing on the cake was Sepultura's " Roots Bloody Roots ", which rounded off Savage Lands ' lively and supportive set.

For the second year running, the SPA is present at Hellfest. This year, the famous animal protection association has also benefited from a successful, offbeat video featuring guest Didier Wampas. At its stand in HellCity Square, the SPA awaits festival-goers in its " Love Shellter ", entirely dedicated to"the alchemy that exists between animals in need of affection and metal festival-goers who have so much love to give". Exclusive merchandising is also available for the occasion.

Powerful, thunderous and energetic! On Friday evening, Finland'sAmorphis were widely acclaimed both during and after their ultra-successful set under the Altar stage tent. The Scandinavians, who play atmospheric death metal, alternated old and new songs, much to the delight of the festival-goers present. Tomi Joutsen was in top form. With his impressive, wide-ranging voice, theAmorphis singer got everyone on the same wavelength, and had a large part of the audience headbanging. They were clearly won over by this concert, and we were among them!
The program continues this Saturday, June 29, 2024, with concerts by Metallica, Mass Hysteria, Kvelertak and Suicidal Tendencies!
