Have you heard ofArlette & Colette? If you're a discerning gourmand, then the answer is most certainly yes. For the rest of us, a catch-up session is in order. A delicious organic boulangerie-pâtisserie nestled in Paris's 17th arrondissement, Arlette & Co lette opened its doors in 2018 under the impetus of Sami Bouattour (winner of the Best Baguette in Paris 2017). Since then, Sami has taken off for new adventures in Finistère, Brittany, handing over his baby to two fellow pastry chefs, Hugo and Louis. Behind these two first names are Louis Taine (ex-Ducasse and Les Belles Envies) and Hugo Campagne (ex-Landemaine). Together, they decided to keep the name of this fine gourmet address, but to mention their first names: " Arlette & Colette par Hugo et Louis ".
And we might as well tell you right now, but the gourmet delights are still there, with delicious pastries, some of which have become real best-sellers. We're thinking in particular of the " Absolus " , incredible tarts with Madagascar vanilla or Piedmont hazelnut. Our favorite is the Absolu à la pistache d'Iran, with a pistachio insert at its heart, topped with pistachio cream. The whole is sprinkled with crunchy pistachio pieces. A pure delight!
Alternatively, you can opt for simple yet effective sure-fire favourites, such as lemon tarts, chocolate tarts or the delicious Paris-Brest, sprinkled with fleur de sel.
The changing seasons undeniably shake up the creations presented behind the shop window. This autumn, for example, Arlette & Colette offers a delicious blackcurrant and chestnut cream éclair, a surprising but perfectly balanced and successful combination.
We also strongly recommend you try our homemade flan, light and creamy, just the way we like it! Of course, at Arlette et Colette, everything is homemade (except the cannelés, which come from Bordeaux). The house also focuses on organic and mainly local ingredients.
When it comes to viennoiseries, Arlette et Colette is once again at its best with its famous pain au chocolat praliné, its chocolate or flaky briochette, or its apple or lemon plie. For an explosion in the mouth, opt for the chignon with salted butter caramel at its heart!
Last but not least, bread is also worth a detour: fruit loaves, seed bread, flax bread, spelt bread, rye pie... There are so many mouth-watering possibilities to choose from, all of which will put you in a quandary when it comes to making your choice. Note that baguettes, loaves, pies and cobblestones are also organic.
So, are you ready to devourArlette & Colette 's sweet breads and viennoiseries?
