Paris is not the only place filled with bicycle fans! Cycle touring has been gaining ground for years in France and makes more and more curious and adepts. Starting from October 15, 2020, a new 420-km cycle route will be officially inaugurated. Its name? “La Seine à Vélo”. Picture this: a cycle route crossing 8 departments (Paris, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Yvelines, Val-d’Oise, Eure, Seine-Maritime and Calvados), along the Seine and enabling you to ride from Paris to Havre and to Deauville.
Even though this new cycle route promises to go to the sea from the French capital by riding a bike, “La Seine à Vélo” expects to make you live a fantastic experience too, in the heart of varied landscapes, cities and villages packed with history and heritage.
For instance, discover the fascinating architectural heritage with the great cathedrals in Paris and Rouen, the Abbaye de Jumièges, the castles in Malmaison… Or perhaps are more into industrial history with the Canal Saint Denis, the river ports and the inland water shipping in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine. Some may turn to more gourmet discoveries with tasting session of local specialties and terroir produces.
Moreover, on October 15, “La Seine à Vélo” will launch its website so that you can pick up some good ideas and itineraries to enjoy the next time you are on vacation.
Whether it is for a family ride, an active and cultural weekend, or a genuine “cycle trip”, “La Seine à Vélo” has a lot of memorable moments in store.
