With the Paris 2024 Olympic Games fast approaching, the question of public transport to carry the millions of travelers arises, with the extension of Line 14 in particular becoming the "absolute priority".

Paris's public transport system will have to work to perfection during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to carry the millions of passengers expected to travel to the Olympic venues. The most important works and developments must therefore be completed by July 26, 2024, including the extension of metroline 14, which has become RATP's"absolute priority". By then, it must link Orly and its airport to Saint-Denis, where the athletes' village will be located.

At the outset, we were also expecting the arrival of the Grand Paris Express and lines 16 and 17, whose timetable for the Olympic Games was quickly abandoned. The only survivor is line 14, whose extension is already well advanced to the north, as far as Mairie de Saint-Ouen. For the moment, in the south, the terminus remains at Olympiades, a long way from the goal of Orly, and there are only two years left to push the work forward.

At present, the opening date is only a few weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. However, the organizations behind the project are not worried and are confident. In their view, the timetable is on track, particularly between Saint-Ouen town hall and Saint-Denis Pleyel, where the creation of the station and tunnel are in the hands of Société du Grand Paris. Bernard Cathelain, a member of the SGP Board of Directors, assures us that the tunnel has been completed and the tracks laid in most places.

On the south side, optimism is also high, as seven new stations are due to open between now and 2024. According to RATP estimates, the extended line 14 will enable passengers to travel from the north to the south of Paris in around 40 minutes.
