The next edition ofEurovision will be held in Liverpool, Great Britain, from 9 to 13 May 2023. But then, who will succeed to the Ukrainians of the group Kalush Orchestra, big winners of the last edition? And who will have the great honor of representing France after the Bretons Alvan & Ahez, who came second to last in the ranking in 2022?
On January 12, France Televisions put an end to the suspense. While many were hoping for the return of the program"Eurovision France, it's you who decide!", which offers the possibility to the viewers to choose their favorite candidate, France Televisions and the head of the French delegation finally made the choice to select directly the artist who will represent France in the song contest this year. The lucky winner is called La Zarra, and comes from Quebec, Canada.

Her real name is Fatima Zahra Hafdi, the singer was notably revealed to the general public in 2021 thanks to her hit"Tu t'en iras".
Both author, composer and interpreter, La Zarra will have the heavy task of defending the French flag during the grand final of Eurovision next May 13. And one thing is sure, the Quebecer La Zarra is more motivated than ever. " I'm going there to win. I practiced a lot of sports when I was younger, especially boxing, so I take it as a new competition " she said in the columns of Le Parisien.
As for the song that La Zarra will perform in Liverpool this spring, it was unveiled this February 19. Entitled"Obviously", the title was co-written by the artist. After being revealed on social networks, the song was performed live for the first time by La Zarra this Sunday, February 19 at the JT of France 2. We let you discover this song.
As a reminder, this is not the first time that an artist from Quebec represents France at the Eurovision contest. In 2001, Natasha St-Pier had sung for France and had even arrived fourth of the classification.
The last time France was on the podium was in 2021. That year, Barbara Pravi had reached the second position with her song " Voilà ".
