What if musicians were real athletes too? If you think about it, the life of a professional musician is a lot like that of an athlete's, with hours spent working on an instrument, concerts going on until noon, and the constant pressure on their shoulders! To coincide with the Formes Olympiques festival, the"Les Idées Heureuses" company is bringing sports and classical music together at the Marathon du Concerto, a day when you can come and listen to magnificent pieces for free at the Stade Charléty!
Join us on September 17, 2023 to admire and listen to great international soloists, who will leave their usual attire behind and don sports shirts to keep with the theme! The gymnasium at Charléty, a major Parisian stadium and venue for the World Athletics Championships, will be the perfect setting for this event, presented by sports journalist Nelson Montfort.
Did you know that the word "concerto" comes from the Latin "concertare", meaning to fight? And it's going to take a lot of fighting spirit, since the musicians will be playing one score after another, in a veritable marathon! The program includes a Marathon des étoiles with invited international soloists, a Marathon des juniors for youngsters aged 2 to 14,featuring a short version ofVivaldi'sFour Seasons , and a Marathon des espoirs, which will introduce the public to young revelations.
And let's not forget anintroduction to percussion and breakdancing, as well as musical games with balls and sports accessories! It's a great way to make classical music fun and accessible to all!
