Looking for an artistic escape in the heart of Paris? We've found you a spot that combines love of art, travel and tea. Let's go to the 10th district of the capital, at n°34 rue Bichat to discover TRÀ-ART, a hybrid place that immerses us in the Vietnamese culture.
What is TRÀ-ART? It is a concept imagined by Vân, a young Vietnamese photographer who wanted to promote the culture of her country through her two passions: art and tea.
It is first of all a contemporary art gallery where each quarter we come to discover the works of Vietnamese artists and to acquire a piece of art. At the moment, we can for example discover a first exhibition dedicated to Pipou and her digital paintings which represent each a past love story while explaining how these relationships contributed to forge the person she is today. A personal introspection that can however echo our respective stories.
But it is also a tea counter that offers us to discover new references from Vietnam. These come from small producers including a cooperative that allows us to taste blends from wild tea trees in the hills. It is called the tea of the peaks. This is a unique tasting that Vân shares with us after she had an experience that she still recounts today with great passion.
It is the memory of the discovery of an impressive forest of hundred-year-old tea trees stretching in the mountains of northern Vietnam. Originally, this escapade was to be the subject of a series of photographs. But it also gave birth to the project of this unique tea store in Paris. In addition to the great vintages that Vân invites us to taste through his brand called"Nuage Sauvage", we are guaranteed an ethical purchase thanks to fair trade.
Finally, we'll have to stay tuned for the next part of the TRÀ-ART adventure. Soon, this unusual spot should welcome a tea room where you can not only taste new wines but also enjoy French-Vietnamese pastries and revisited specialties. On the program, cream puffs or, more surprisingly, a sweet version of bánh chưng!
