If you're a fan of American TV shows or cartoons, then you're probably familiar with Krispy Kreme's donuts, in the pink version with multicolored vermicelli for Homer Simpson, or in the glazed version (we're talking sugar glaze here, not ice cream!) in the hand of every policeman in every TV show across the Atlantic.
And if you've always salivated at the sight of those plump little clouds, dreaming of devouring them yourself without having to take a plane to New York, then here's some mouth-watering news: Paris welcomes its very first Krispy Kreme boutique, where you can stock up on the most famous donuts from the House founded in 1937 in North Carolina, located in the heart of the Forum des Halles, under the canopy.
The pastry menu includes pop-culture icons such as"Hot Doughnuts Now" and theOriginal Glazed Doughnut, made before our very eyes. This first French boutique, with a surface area of 550m2, is in fact the company's 'hot light theater shop', i.e. a place where not only donuts are sold, but also produced. And what a spectacle it is, in the large glass workshop!
You can follow the donuts as they pass through the oil, then under the famous glaze, before being slipped into little bags, to take away on their own (2.50€) or in the famous boxes of 12 donuts (19.90€). It's simple: as soon as the neon sign is lit, the production line is up and running. No fewer than 42,000 doughnuts are produced on site every day, and at the end of the day, unsold products are donated to the food bank.
Naturally, the doughnuts are 100% fresh because they 're made every day, and even served while still warm as soon as the line is running. In all, gourmets can discover 13 of the brand's must-try recipes, including chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, as well as a range of hot drinks.
For fans of North American culture, the arrival of Krispy Kreme in France will finally give them a taste of those famous donuts!
