Welcome to the temple of patisserie in Asnières: here, everything has been designed to put gourmet pleasures centre stage, with patisserie workshops, a coffeeshop that puts sharing in the spotlight, and a boutique that puts craftsmanship and small brands in the spotlight, to unearth a host of quality items for your birthdays, your kitchen...
Behind Maison Fika, you'll find Julia and Nicolas in the kitchen (or at the cash register). She's the pastry chef. He greets you in the store, prepares the coffees and serves the Känelbullar fresh from the oven. Together, they form a warm and welcoming duo, and from the moment you step through the door, you feel right at home.
And that's exactly what Maison Fika is all about: making it an event that promotes "fika", that moment of sharing that Swedes make a point of celebrating. The Swedish way of life can be found everywhere: in the coffeeshop's comforting menu and its XXL hot drinks, and in the products sold in the boutique, carefully selected by Julia and Nicolas.
At the far end of the concept store, you'll find a wooden hut for the little ones to play in, while the adults relax on the nearby sofas, enjoying a coffee, tea or hot chai latte with its cloud of foam...
For a snack, go for the Känelbullar, the Scandinavian cinnamon buns that Julia prepares, caramelized on the outside and melt-in-the-mouth on the inside. During the week, Café Fika welcomes coworkers looking for a quiet place to work, then on Wednesdays and weekends, the place spontaneously becomes a kid-friendly café.
In the kitchen, Constance, a pastry chef by profession, leads the parent-child workshops. On the program: a homemade galette des rois, including the making of puff pastry. Under Constance's watchful eye, the children (aged 6 and over) roll out the pastry, fill the piping bags and hide the fava beans, (almost) religiously following the pastry chef's advice.
Outside the month of January, every Saturday Maison Fika offers children's workshops, parent-child duo workshops and, for older children, workshops for teenagers and adults. "We teach children how to make homemade alternatives to store-bought cakes," explains Julia, referring to the Goûters workshops.
In fact, Maison Fika could well become the next must-see spot to celebrateyour child's birthday : the venue offers workshops for the occasion, with a homemade cake by Constance and Julia. All you have to do is choose the theme of the party with your child, and the two pastry chefs will create a tailor-made cake. For birthday parties, baby showers, special occasions and more, Julia and Constance can create the cakes of your dreams - just order them in-store or by phone!
