Hoa Cà Phê is the story of two friends, Diane and Diana, who met at university and always dreamed of opening their own store, a warm and friendly place. Passionate about cooking, pastry and coffee, they decided to create a place where everything is homemade and can be enjoyed in complete tranquillity. Vietnam being dear to their hearts, the idea of a Vietnamese coffee shop naturally sprang to mind. This is how Hoa Cà Phê was born, last March, in the rue qui s'amine du Chemin Vert in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.
At Hoa Cà Phê, the emphasis is on coffee of Vietnamese origin, but not only. You'll find coffees from Parisian roasters who like to offer new discoveries on a regular basis, from here and abroad, like Alba at the moment.
It includes, of course, Vietnamese coffee"cà phê sữa đá", the typical coffee, hot or iced, that combines strong filter coffee and concentrated milk. Be careful, it's addictive. Avoid drinking several in a row, or you'll be hopping around like a kangaroo all day. You can also try the creamy Egg Café, reminiscent of tiramisu, or the refreshing Coconut Ice Cream Café.
The house also offers classic fine pastries with a Vietnamese twist. For example, there's a peanut-pandan cookie (a typical Asian aromatic plant) and an excellent cassava cake, melt-in-the-mouth and not too sweet.
As there are already several banh mi stores in the area, the associates decided to set themselves apart by offering original Vietnamese sandwiches. So, in addition to the roast chicken banh mi with homemade mayonnaise sauce, there's a choice of 3 vegetarian banh mi. Organic eggs, halloumi and marinated tofu, the choice is yours. We tested the halloumi version and it's really good. Traditional baker's bread, soft pickles, homemade mayo and we're well fed for lunch.
As for the dining room, it's a Vietnamese-style coffee shop. Wooden tables, a cosy armchair, schoolboy chairs and lush green wallpaper make for a welcoming setting for your computer.
For a good cup of coffee, a chat with friends, a banh mi with a twist or a dessert that travels, make a note of this address! The spot is open Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and at weekends, 11am to 6pm.
