While new restaurant openings will be legion as usual, come September, Paris will also be welcoming new patisseries that will make sweet tooths' taste buds climb the curtain. Such is the case with Quelque Part... La Matière, the patisserie of chef Florian Barbarot, who is already behind the excellent marine restaurant Quelque Part... Les Abysses.
Hand in hand with pastry chef Pierre-Henry Lecompte, the chef - discovered by the general public in Top Chef - is embarking on this new adventure, just a few steps from his gourmet restaurant. Opening is scheduled for August.
Pierre-Henry Lecompte is passionate about good, raw ingredients, and puts the expertise he has acquired with chef Jérôme Labrousse to work in delicate, elegant pastries that are low in sugar and low in fuss, but never lose sight of the primitive taste. The pastry chef especially indulges in original pairings: coffee, hazelnut, coriander; apricot, mint and verjuice; mirabelle plum, yoghurt, clove; peach, gin, lemongrass; rice, milk, baobab.
Quelque Part... La Matière also offers gourmet moments, with an afternoon tea from Wednesday to Sunday, including viennoiseries, sweets, entremets and mini sizes of the boutique's pastries; and a brunch on Saturday and Sunday, as sweet as it is savory, featuring yogurts, jams, viennoiseries, homemade cakes, and a menu of savory creations to share. Accompany it with a cocktail or mocktail!
