You love watching Top Chef, and the candidates' dishes often make your mouth water? What if we told you that you could go out to eat, enjoy the chefs' dishes and watch the show live? Wouldn't you agree? It has to be said that this anniversary season, which celebrates its 15th spring, is full of twists and turns, and it would be a shame to miss a crumb. For the second year running, Top Chef Evenings are back in action.
So, to make the most of it, we're heading for Suresnes to take the place of the Bistrot Top Chef, orchestrated by Stéphane Rotenberg, no more, no less. Every Wednesday evening, from April 3, 2024, we'll be treating ourselves to a feast in the company of the current season's candidates! Hosted by our favorite presenter and season 13 finalist Arnaud Delvenne, these evenings will plunge you totally into the show's universe.
How does it work? Each Wednesday, a different candidate from the current season comes to cook for you, a complete €79 menu with appetizers, entrée, main course and dessert, inspired by the beautiful gourmet creations of the competition that made your mouth water. As you'd expect, the best part is being able to chat live with the candidates, during the live broadcast of the show on giant screens.
For the first evening, we were able to try out the menu devised by Quentin Maufrais, the chef who currently officiates at Guy Savoy's Chiberta, and who rolled up his sleeves to delight the palates of the 150 guests who came for an evening combining good food and festive entertainment.
The meal began with a delicious lobster-style amuse-bouche. A brioche bun, lightly toasted and impregnated with langoustine oil, topped with a bisque mayonnaise and a lightly torched langoustine.
I was particularly taken with the "terre mer"starter. Potatoes cooked in smoked butter, complemented by the aniseed aroma of tarragon and a crispy tuile on top. Haddock adds a salty touch, while Madagascar oscietra caviar bursts on the palate, adding a luxurious dimension to this delicious starter.
The main course offered beef in two ways: a tender, juicy fillet, cooked to perfection, and a braised, shredded oxtail. We loved the crispy buckwheat celery dauphinois and the powerful peated whisky sauce.
The meal ended sweetly and indulgently with an elegant interpretation of traditional rice pudding. The creamy texture of the rice, perfectly cooked, contrasts with the crisp cookie.
As you can imagine, the next few Wednesdays promise many more fine discoveries to be made. To reserve, simply go online and choose the Diner menu in the slot of your choice, on the Wednesday of your choice for the coming weeks. In any case, one thing's for sure: this is your chance to immerse yourself completely, and not virtually, in the world of the most popular culinary competition. So, how about a Top Chef evening at the Bistrot Top Chef?
