When it comes to a relaxing break in the Paris region, Domaine de la Corniche is a must. Located in the Yvelines region, just 45 minutes from Paris, this charming haven of peace promises a wonderful time with loved ones. Whether you come as a couple, a family or with friends, there's something for everyone here. After all, everyone deserves time for themselves!
Perched on the edge of a chalk cliff along the Seine, Domaine de la Corniche welcomes visitors to a postcard-perfect setting. Here, the hustle and bustle of Paris seems a long way away, and let's face it, it's good for you! But beyond this charming green landscape, this ideal spot to get away from it all offers a warm welcome that makes you feel right at home.
From our double room, we can't get enough of the beautiful view over the Seine. At every hour of the day, this panorama bewitches us. The highlight was waking up the next morning to an early-morning mist that made us feel as if we were on a cloud... which wasn't far from reality!
Because this charming hotel is full of surprises. As soon as you enter, the bar with its sublime view draws you in, welcoming you in a modern yet warm setting. On the floor below, an open-access billiards room awaits challengers, while movie buffs flock to the cinema, where films are shown throughout the day.
A stroll around the grounds reveals not only an outdoor swimming pool, but also a romantic kiosk where you can take a long break to enjoy the calm and the view. You can even dine here! Further down, we lose ourselves in the midst of the vegetation to come across a vegetable garden. A slope links it directly to the panoramic restaurant's kitchens. Their secret is out: at the Michelin-starred Domaine de la Corniche, you'll find local produce on the menu.
Gourmet delights
In addition to its beautiful panoramic view over the Seine, the Panoramique is a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant that sets an example. Far from the cliché of tiny dishes that leave you hungry for more, chef Gaëtan Perulli offers a well-balanced 5- or 7-course menu withwine pairings.
As part of its eco-responsible approach, it also favors the most local producers possible to limit its carbon footprint. As a result, the menu changes almost daily, respecting the seasonal nature of the produce and guaranteeing a wonderful culinary experience. It's a no-brainer.
What's more, the chef modifies his menu on an almost daily basis according to his desires and inspirations. He also adapts his menu to suit the dietary requirements of his guests. For example, he brilliantly proposed a vegetarian menu to one of the neighboring tables. Add to this a passionate, patient and friendly front-of-house team.
For our part, Gaëtan Perulli will have sublimated the maritime flavors with his delicious lobster ravioles served with their carapace velouté, or his ultra-melting langoustine accompanied by cucumber balls, yogurt ice cream and basil jus. The sommelier suggests we accompany them with a glass of white Loire wine, a Menetou-Salon Morgues 100% sauvignon cuvée 2018 from domaine Pellé, which brings a pleasant note of freshness to our tasting.
We were also treated to a rosé veal fillet covered in its mirror-shiny juices, accompanied by flavorful artichokes and chanterelles. We were also told that game would soon be on the menu. As for the wine, we were invited to taste a Bordeaux red wine: a 2017 Pessac-Léognan from Château Coucheroy, quite silky and fruity, which would also go well with game meats.
On the cheese side, it's love at first sight with a creamy Mont d'Or mousse, symbolizing the transition to the generosity of autumn-winter delights. We close this tasting with an ultra-regressive dessert: a garden hazelnut soufflé that combines an airy texture with the indulgence of a praline.
To break up the sweetness, nothing beats acidity. That's why this tasty dessert is accompanied by a fig sorbet and roasted fig on crunchy hazelnuts. It's accompanied by a glass of sweet wine with citrus notes: a Jurançon Costat Darrès cuvée 2018 from Jean Marc Grussauté, which is also a biodynamic wine.
A wellness getaway
Domaine de la Corniche is the promise of a gourmet holiday. But that's not the only asset of this unmissable spot. Here you can also enjoy the Spaquana, to which customers have access all day long by reservation, and freely in the evening between 8 and 11 p.m., with Cinq Mondes products.
Enjoy a 14 x 4-meter indoor pool with whirlpool baths and massage jets in a relaxing atmosphere, a hammam or a sauna, and take time to relax on beds nestled in alcoves offering an intimate atmosphere.
A haven of peace for families too
And what about families? There's plenty of room for both young and old in this family-friendly area! While parents head off to relax at the spa, the younger ones have their own club. They can enjoy the yurts located right next to the playground and the henhouse where the chef collects his eggs.
In the largest of these nomadic houses, several beds await the little ones for their siesta, while the second is the scene of activities and workshops in the company of an animator. The cinema's program also includes sessions for children, and the billiard table is equipped with cues for family games.
The spa is also accessible to children, who can share a moment of well-being with their parents thanks to specially adapted treatments. Last but not least, the hotel staff have no shortage of activities to recommend in the surrounding area, such as a visit to the nearby Thoiry safari zoo, or excursions on the Seine for the little ones.
