An air of Dolce Vita just a stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées... Welcome to Cantinetta Ventura, the beautiful Italian address that has set up shop in two brand-new spots in Paris's 8th arrondissement, the first at 5 avenue Myron Herrick, and the second at 49 avenue Franklin Roosevelt. Not far from each other, then...
Two addresses that reinvent fast food, in a warm setting, with genuine quality Italian cuisine, to enjoy on the premises, to take away or for delivery. The concept was the brainchild of Serge Ventura, who wanted to pay homage to his Italian roots and rediscover the taste of the cuisine of his nonna, his grandmother. The idea? To make homemade Italian gastronomy accessible to those who have neither the time nor the means.
The menu is the work of Chef Giuseppe Franco, former Executive Chef of the IDA restaurant in Paris, who has also worked in the kitchens of Le Jules Verne and Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Louis Nomicos. The program features fresh produce and fine preparations, such as homemade focaccia, lasagne and creamy pasta sauces. As for pasta, there are three permanent sauces: pesto, Bolognese and truffle, as well as two daily pastas on Mondays and Thursdays.
The pasta is imported directly from Bari in southern Italy, then prepared fresh in front of gourmets and gourmands. And if you prefer something different, the house also offers pizzas, more precisely a pinsa romana, but also salads and a creamy burrata, straight from Puglia.
And for dessert? Italian specialties, without a doubt, with classic tiramisu, panna cotta or an airy mango cream. For chocolate lovers, there's also the profiteroles, with choux pastries prepared the very same morning, according to the rules of the art.
A menu that the editors were able to try out. For starters, we were tempted by the tuna tataki salad with wheat and beans, and the burrata with sun-kissed tomatoes. These two appetizers were particularly tasty, and of rare freshness, ideal in summer. For the main course, a fine pinsa romana with crisp pasta, as well as three plates of pasta and sauces. A real treat! The Bolognese-style pasta, with its mouth-watering homemade tomato sauce and ultra-tender pieces of meat, was a particular favorite.
For dessert, chocolate profiteroles and red fruit panna cotta rounded off the meal in style. We particularly appreciated the chocolate profiteroles, filled with a whipped cream of unrivalled lightness, and above all with very little sugar, balancing the dessert to perfection.
Two fine addresses, then, which join those already existing in Malesherbes, Capucines, Haussmann and Raspail, to be discovered if you happen to be in the area... Want to drop in?
