Berkeley Garden is the little brother of the famous Mayfair Garden, located near the Champs-Élysées and the Musée du Quai Branly, a stone's throw from the Pont de l'Alma on the banks of the Seine. The cosy atmosphere, inspired by London clubs, seduces from the moment you enter, with its refined woodwork, comfortable leather armchairs and delicate marble tables. In this warm setting, you can savour the modern interpretation of North Indian cuisine, orchestrated by Chef Noman NAWAZ. After honing his skills at the Pavillon Ledoyen, he went on to perfect his skills in London with chef Yogesh Datta.
Berkeley Garden 's cuisine is refined and elegant. It is prepared exclusively with fresh produce, revealing the intense aromas of Indian spices and contrasting textures, from the crunch of chaat to creamy sauces. Masterful cooking in the tandoor oven brings out the smoky flavor of grilled meats, while minute naan, chapati and paratha breads are a welcome addition to any meal. Balance and harmony are the watchwords of this gastronomy, which brilliantly combines the 5 flavors: salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami.
Among the great classics of Indian cuisine such as samossas, butter chicken massala and naans, we discover the house's flagship dish:biryani en croûte, available in chicken or lamb mouse versions. The range is diversified with innovative creations such as vegetarian tacos made with chickpeas, which cater for a variety of diets. A dozen vegetarian options are available à la carte.
During our visit, we feasted on Samossa Chaat, a generous vegetable Samossa served with chopped onions, chickpeas, pomegranate and homemade chutney. For the main course, we succumbed to Lamb Amritsari, a roghanjosh-style lamb curry simmered for 3 hours.
For dessert, nothing beats the Berkeley citrus éclair, with a white chocolate and citrus base topped with a red fruit coulis. On the bread side, we fell for the famous cheese nann. Soft but also crunchy and well-filled, it's delicious.
At Berkeley Garden, menus range from €24.90 to €59 for a tasting menu. There's something for everyone, whether you're in a hurry at lunchtime or looking for a delicious dinner for two, with a hive of flavors. And don't forget the generous mango lassi.
