An air of New York in Paris... Opened two years after chef Jody Williams ' historic West Village address in 2011, Buvette Paris has made its SoPi debut under the leadership of New Yorker Linda Mayer. But if the address has East Coast blood in its veins, it's French bistro cuisine that can be savored at the counter or on the terrace, once the warm weather arrives.
Every day of the week and almost 365 days a year - the address is, in fact, open throughout August- Buvette Paris hasextendable opening hours - 9am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to midnight Friday, 10am to midnight Saturday and 10am to 11pm Sunday - to satisfy every taste and appetite.
From café-croissant for breakfast to patisserie for afternoon tea, from scrambled eggs and waffles for a semblance of weekday brunch to homemade lemonade and craft beers for aperitifs, there's always a good reason to drop in. Alongside a range of tartines and sandwiches (the croque-monsieur is reputed to be particularly naughty), the bistro menu gets straight to the point with perfectly executed tricolored classics.
Brandade de morue sur fondue de poireaux (16€) carefully buttered, parmentier de canard (20€) gratinéed with care, tajine of seasonal vegetables with spices and yoghurt (14€), green salad to ease the conscience... Buvette Paris recommends three plates to share for two guests, and for once, the advice proves sound.
As for the liquid offer, it's well-stocked, especially the cocktails, which take up the great classics of the genre, such as the Pimm's cup (pimm's, lemonade, fresh fruit and fresh mint; €15) and the Paloma (tequila, lemonade, grapefruit; €13). More than 10 years after opening, Buvette Paris continues to delight SoPi.
