This is the must-attend French music event for all metal fans and other lovers of music with powerful decibels... Every year since 2006, the Hellfest Summer Open Air, better known as Hellfest, has welcomed a huge number of bands, mainly with metal roots and, to a lesser extent, punk and hardcore.
With several tens of thousands of festival-goers and appearances by internationally renowned cult bands such as Alice Cooper, Kiss, Rammstein, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Tool and Deep Puprle, Hellfest has established itself as one of Europe's leading music festivals and one of France's leading cultural events.
In 2024, the festival dedicated to extreme music once again pulled out all the stops, inviting a host of prestigious artists including Metallica, Corey Taylor, Bruce Dickinson, Queens of the Stone Age, Babymetal, Brutus, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Mass Hysteria, Slayer's Kerry King and Suicidal Tendencies.
After so much emotion, Hellfest festival-goers can't wait to get back to Clisson and headbang to the rhythms of great heavy metal, punk, hard rock, black metal and progressive metal bands!
So mark your calendars! Hellfest announces its return near Nantes from Thursday June 19 to Sunday June 22, 2025. And once again, Hellfest has decided to fill your ears with four days of concerts and festivities.
As for the 2025 line-up, who will have the honor of getting you hopping and hopping next summer? Well, American band Linkin Park has been announced as the headliner for the final day, Sunday June 22! It's an opportunity for Mike Shinoda, Emily Armstrong and the others to give Clisson the soundtrack to their"From Zero" opus, before their concert at the Stade de France.
Other names confirmed for Hellfest 2025? Germany's Scorpions, Finland's Apocalyptica, Germany's Till Lindemann (lead singer of Rammstein), Mongolia's The Hu, Norway's Leprous and America's Korn. And let's not forget Heilung, The Cult, Ultra Vomit, Cypress Hill and Airbourne. More surprisingly, Muse, the famous British rock band, has also been announced. Further proof that Hellfest intends to open up a little more to rock.
But extreme music lovers need not worry, as Hellfest is also planning some great circle pits and wall of death sessions, thanks to the presence of Exodus, Abbath, Refused, Unleashed, The Sex Pistols with Frank Carter, Ihsahn and Defeater.
A total of 184 bands and artists will be in Clisson next summer, playing their powerful songs on the 6 Hellfest stages. Please note that a "very special guest" will be announced shortly for June 20.
As the festival indicates, 106 artists will be treading Clissonnais soil for the first time in 2025. The women's scene will be well represented, including Within Temptation, Epica, Spiritbox, Kittie, Future Palace, Amira Elfeky, Charlotte Wessels and Sun. In all, more than 42 bands featuring female musicians will be at Hellfest in 2025!
The pioneers of the genre will of course be on hand, including the duo Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, the Brits from Judas Priest, Dream Theater and Savatage. But the new generation will also be making their presence felt, with appearances fromElectric Callboy, Turnstile, Knocked Loose and Jinjer.
Finally, the phenomenal bands of recent months will also be present at Hellfest in 2025, such as Falling in Reverse, who were at the Accor Arena in Paris at the beginning of December, followed by Poppy, Kim Dracula, Imminence and Dethklok. Hellfest 2025 will also feature the Blood Fire Death tribute to Swedish black metal band Bathory!
