A new coffee shop that focuses on Hong Kong specialties? Go to Bing Sutt, the new spot just a step away from the Place de la République which offers you a charming place to rest during the day, to savor a good Chinese tea with beautiful typical pastries.
Located on rue Béranger in the 3rd arrondissement, this coffee shop reveals a refined and welcoming setting. A design counter, wooden seats, a suspended air brewer and white walls form the decor of this place open to all. At the helm, we find Davinna, a Parisian influencer who wanted to offer a meeting place for the Hong Kong community on the one hand, but also to highlight the dishes of her childhood.
Indeed, she reminds us that Hong Kong is a Chinese city resulting from a melting pot of cultures with various influences. She insists on the fact that this is not a Chinese coffee shop, but a Hong Kong one. It's like saying "European restaurant" instead of talking about the different countries of Europe, she says.
So, you will have understood, we find in Hong Kong, specialties that mix cultures such as the Egg Tart of Portuguese influence which is not without reminding the pastéïs de nata, the Custard tarts or the tea with milk which draw their origin from the British, obviously.
In addition to the unavoidable Hong Kong Milk Tea, registered as an intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong, one can enjoy honey chrysanthemum tea and lemon tea. The coffee is subject to change according to the beautiful discoveries of the house.
Among the dishes not to be missed, we find the Pinneapple Bun which can be eaten plain, with butter or in a cheese version for the adventurous. Soft as can be, we love it! Here, ovaltine and almond cakes and cookies are also on the program. For lunch, the house offers the famous bun in a savory version or a hot dish that changes every month. This month, it's Borscht soup macaroni, a specialty with Russian influences.
In this period of Chinese New Year, the coffee shop proposes a typical dessert based on glutinous rice pearls filled with coconut and peanuts in a ginger syrup infusion. You'll love this version which reveals little rabbits to celebrate the arrival of the year of the Water Rabbit.
Like any good coffee shop, the place is equipped with wifi and awaits you with good teas and coffees to enjoy from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and from 9:30am to 6pm on Saturdays. Come on, let's have a good coffee and sweets break?
