Hanoi 1988 opens a new concept that you're sure to love: a coffee shop featuring Vietnamese specialties in a bucolic and exotic atmosphere. This unique café offers both Vietnamese coffees and sweets, while also being a flower store.
Hanoi 1988, sound familiar? Well, it's no wonder: the company is opening its 5th location here. The group already owns 2 Vietnamese restaurants and two other cafés. A fan of decoration, particularly flowers and ceramics, the company decided to open an innovative new spot that would combine all these points. So, at Hanoi 1988 flowers &Archives, you can come and enjoy a good cup of coffee, but also treat yourself to a bouquet of flowers, as the place also acts as a florist, take part in DIY workshops or find beautiful ceramics made in Vietnam.
On arrival, you'll be seduced by the decor, which mixes handmade, recycled and upcycled items, all in a country-house atmosphere. Vases, pots, plates, a typical window and flowers form a pretty marriage where it's a pleasure to sit here and there. No two seats are alike, so it's up to us to choose between the low stool or the counter-style seat. We're back in the coffee shop world of Vietnam.
On the menu, you'll find cà phê sữa đá with condensed milk, of course, but also an excellent coconut coffee that we really liked, and the ultra-creamy Egg Coffee with its powerful coffee. Vietnamese teas and organic matcha are also on the menu. To accompany these drinks, the house offers a variety of cookies (matcha, black sesame, spirulina or chocolate), brownies (matcha, chocolate...), chiffon cakes and fruit cheesecakes, as well as pappa roti, soft brioches in different versions (matcha and coffee on the day we visited). Expect to pay between €6 and €7 for coffee and €5 for pastries.
People come to this café in the marsh to take a break in the gentle scent of flowers. If some people come to work, please note that the house does not provide wifi. Regularly, the house offers DIY workshops based around flowers. Themed floral arrangements with fresh flowers, floral art or paper flower creation are just some of the proposals made via the house's social networks. Expect to pay between €55 and €65 for a workshop, which includes a snack.
We ate the fresh mango cheesecake and the creamy egg coffee. On our way out, we treat ourselves to two small bouquets of flowers, from 8€ for the cheapest to 22€ for the most lavish with lilies.
This coffee shop is for anyone who loves flowers and good coffee. Forget the cosy sofas, the seats are cute without being made to sit for hours. Whether you want to take it away with you or simply relax with your girlfriends, this is a charming spot that's sure to take you on a journey.
