Chef David Gallienne has opened Oscar, his second restaurant in Giverny, this time in the heart of the Musée des impressionnismes.

And that's two for chef David Gallienne! Already established in Giverny for a couple of years with his Michelin-starred restaurant Le Jardin des Plumes, inherited from chef Eric Guérin, the Norman chef, who came to the attention of the general public thanks to his participation in season 11 of Top Chef, which he won in 2020 over Adrien Cachot, has opened a second address in this Normandy town, a meeting place for Impressionist painters including Claude Monet.

And it's right in the heart of the gardens of one of the region's most famous museums, the Musée des impressionnismes in Giverny, that Oscar has been inaugurated, the new restaurant of David Gallienne, a true ambassador for his region. This bucolic new restaurant gives pride of place to the finest seasonal produce, as locavore as possible, as the chef is accustomed to using and showcasing.

"I'm delighted to be working with the Musée des Impressionnismes de Giverny to bring this exciting project to life. We intend to create different experiences in this place, around gastronomy for everyone! From savory to sweet, from mixology to the art of French entertaining. A palette that reflects the creative spirit of the Impressionist movement and the cultural atmosphere of the museum. More than just a restaurant, Oscar aims to be a festive place to live, punctuated by evenings, encounters and events that are at the heart of the local landscape," explains chef David Gallienne.

Whetheron the terrace or inside the restaurant, decorated by architect Annabelle Fesquet, the chef pays homage to bistro-style cooking and the great classics of French gastronomy. And on Saturday evenings, he adds a jazzy musical ambience, ideally accompanied by a botanical cocktail imagined by mixologist Juliette Oblet, who already works at Jardin des Plumes. Each creation has been named after a painting or a member of Claude Monet's family, reflecting the restaurant's desire to fuse art, history and gastronomy.
