L'olivier, located in the heart of Paris's 18th arrondissement, offers a blend of French and Mediterranean cuisine. The bistro offers both traditional and modern dishes, in a convivial setting.
The restaurant features an attractive, tastefully decorated interior. The room is cosy and comfortable for a warm dinner in winter. On sunny days, a lovely terrace awaits you, with a roadside section, like many Parisian restaurants, but you're comfortably seated.
You can choose from an à la carte menu of plates to share for aperitifs, with the restaurant also offering happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. While you wait for your food, the restaurant has several house cocktails on the menu, as well as a variety of wines and beers.
The menu offers a wide choice of starters, and we decide on the beef and vegetable tacos and the sea bream ceviche with lime and Vitelotte apples. The beef tacos are served in threes and are loaded with meat. You can add guacamole and a mix of tomatoes and onions served on the side to the tacos. Really good tacos with quality meat.
The sea bream ceviche is seasoned with lime and ginger, which makes it quite spicy - ginger-sensitive souls please refrain! However, we really liked the blend of the two flavors, which balance each other out. The ceviche, like the tacos, is served generously.
We continue our meal with a roasted salmon back accompanied by a French pea purée anda grilled Black Angus beef tenderloin with pepper sauce and pommes grenaille. The roasted salmon back is very well cooked and the combination with the peas is pleasant. As for the beef fillet, the quality of the meat is excellent. The pommes grenailles are sautéed with garlic, which should please garlic fans, as there's a lot of it.
The portions here are also very generous, confirming the restaurant's commitment to serving gourmet dishes in a convivial setting. Other menu options include roasted scallops with fregola sarda or truffled linguine de Paris .
We end our meal with Olivier's millefeuille with pistachio cream and red fruit coulis. The dessert is hearty and the pistachio cream tasty. The millefeuille is not necessarily easy to cut, but this is due to its crispy pastry, which is a real treat at the end of the meal.
L'Olivier awaits you at 88 rue Ordener to introduce you to French and Mediterranean flavors.
