With its many bars (most of them very affordable!) and a wide variety of restaurants springing up like mushrooms, the corner of Oberkampf and Parmentier in Paris's 11th arrondissement is one of the most attractive. It's not for nothing that it's particularly popular with young professionals and Parisian bobos!
Once a working-class district, it has been transformed into one of the capital's trendiest neighborhoods, day and night. Yet, despite gentrification, Oberkampf and Parmentier have managed to retain a working-class dimension - Belleville is just a stone's throw away - with their small shops and food markets.
Not far from there, a little further south-east, the Saint-Ambroise district is more peaceful and residential. Named after the church of Saint-Ambroise, built in the 19th century, the district is popular with families, yet close to the dynamic districts ofOberkampf, République and Bastille.
Less hectic than other parts of the 11th arrondissement, the Saint-Ambroise district is a little haven of peace, with its tree-lined streets, small parks, numerous local shops - bakeries, bookshops - as well as cafés and restaurants. And just as well, because that's what you're here for!
Here are the best restaurant addresses in Oberkampf, Parmentier and Saint-Ambroise!
