Situated between Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V, UNI Paris is a high-end Japanese restaurant led by Chef Akmal Anuar. Recently opened, this dining spot offers exceptional sushi, sashimi, and sophisticated hot dishes crafted with premium ingredients like wagyu, truffle, and .
Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, UNI Paris makes an immediate impression with its luxurious and immersive decor. Deep black lacquered surfaces, gold accents, and illuminated artworks create a bold yet harmonious setting, crafted by 2M Interior Design. The interior pays tribute to the Imperial Japan, featuring walls adorned with a mural inspired by 18th-century paintings and 17th-century prints, immersing diners in a warm, traditional Japanese ambiance.
The venue unfolds across several distinct areas. At the front, a classic dining room welcomes guests into a refined and elegant setting. Further inside, a sushi bar with minimalist design encourages diners to take a seat at the counter and watch the masters at work with precision and skill.
Tucked away at the back of the restaurant, yet even more discreet, is a stunning private dining room for up to 10 guests, reminiscent of a samurai residence. With its traditional seating, tatami mats, and rice paper screens, it offers an authentic immersion. For 1,000€ for the group, you can enjoy an exclusive experience that transports you straight to the Land of the Rising Sun!
Steering the kitchen, Singaporean chef Akmal Anuar brings a contemporary twist to Japanese cuisine. Trained in his hometown by double Michelin-starred Belgian chef Emmanuel Stroobant, and later in Dubai under chef Richard Sandoval—whose work has been recognized by the Michelin Guide—he offers a cuisine that seamlessly blends authentic Japanese techniques with a keen appreciation for exceptional ingredients.
The location could have simply relied on eye-catching aesthetics in a neighborhood where appearance often takes center stage. However, the menu goes beyond that, impressing with its precision and distinct personality. While the carefully selected ingredients (caviar, truffle, foie gras, Wagyu beef) form a luxurious palette that defines the menu, these prestigious ingredients are not just showy luxury symbols—they're thoughtfully integrated into cohesive, well-executed dishes.
Among the standout dishes are the otoro tuna sashimi (€28), enhanced with generous shavings of fresh truffle; the yellowtail handroll (€19), praised for its crisp freshness; and the spicy tuna sushi rolls (€25). There are also several impressive nigiri, including a standout flame-seared salmon sushi (€17) and a daring combination of foie gras with otoro tuna (€23).
Moreover, UNI Paris’s menu extends beyond raw dishes, featuring several hot entrees to complement the offerings. Among the house’s best-sellers is the black cod with miso (€49), cooked with remarkable precision, and the braised beef brisket kakuni-style (€46), which boasts an undeniable melt-in-your-mouth quality.
It’s clear: the dining experience confidently falls into a luxury segment, and the bill can be quite substantial. Located in a neighborhood known for its prestigious addresses, the restaurant embraces this luxurious positioning (from its aesthetics and decor to its ingredients and, naturally, its prices), all while maintaining a strong and dedicated culinary identity.
