At the very top of the Butte Montmartre, on the gourmet Rue Ramey (home to Meha, Pagaille and Nakatsu), is L'Almanach Montmartre, a restaurant that combines cuisine and art. While the cuisine is bistronomic, created by chef/owner Léo Giorgis, the art is multi-faceted, with artist residencies exhibited for several months on the restaurant's walls.
It's a singular and quite unique experience that can be viewed and tasted, as the chef proposes plates inspired by the paintings on display during each exhibition. The very definition of cuisine d'auteur. Right now, the restaurant's walls are showcasing the works of Marie-Gabrielle Glock, then it's the turn of artist Janique Bourget, for 4 months.
On the menu, chef Léo Giorgis imagines French cuisine tinged with inspirations from the four corners of the globe, but always with a notion of comfort and generosity that follows the seasons. There's nothing classic about the burger, with pulled-pork-style wild boar, chervil-tarragon mayonnaise and pickled red cabbage; the salmon comes with miso pear and four-spice confit; while the island floats in a hibiscus-scented custard.
And let's not forget the season's must-try treat, raclette, here in mini format and available in three flavors - smoked, pepper and wild garlic - with lomo and pommes grenaille on the side. Prices start at €20 for a starter/main course or main course/dessert, and €24 for a starter/main course/dessert. Shall we go in?
