If you're not familiar with this place, you should be. Before it was called Le Bistrot de la Gare, it was known as La Tour de Lyon, Taverne Karlsbräu and Relais d'Alsace. In 2019, all these names will be replaced by Le Bistrot de la Gare!
Inside, the setting has been modernized while paying homage to the past. There's a fine collection ofvintage posters celebrating the SNCF of yesteryear, as well as retro black-and-white railroad snapshots found here and there.
Upstairs with a view of the station, on the first floor or on the large corner terrace, Le Bistrot de la Gare offers gourmets seasonal, home-cooked cuisine in a bistro atmosphere, of course!
You'll find hard-boiled eggs with homemade mayonnaise, duck rillettes, cod brandade, steak with bistro sauce, served with home fries, green beans or mashed potatoes, and even flammekueche and sauerkraut, a nod to the house's Alsatian past.
As for desserts, you'll love the Saint-James amber rum baba or the all-you-can-eat chocolate mousse! What's more, prices are very reasonable (especially for a restaurant opposite a railway station!): you can get away with a starter, main course and dessert for €25.
In short, bistro cuisine as we like it!
