Why choose between American and Asian cuisine ... when you can have both, at the same time, on the same plate? This fusion cuisine is the challenge taken up by Jōyō, which is opening a new restaurant - its first in the Paris region - a stone's throw from Place de l'Opéra.
Between street-food and pop culture, Jōyō' s universe is somewhere between New York and Japan, straddling the line between izakaya and American pub. And this marriage is evident on the menu, which unveils fusion specialties combining American and Asian flavors, in a decor that's both subdued and colorful.
To share, for example, crispy chicken with popcorn, chicken satay skewers, shrimp tempura or mini-donuts with cheddar and jalapenos. Hot dogs, bao, pad thai and a variety of poke bowls follow. And for a sweet touch, milkshakes, sundaes, as well as bubble teas, cocktails and mocktails to refresh the gullet.
A restaurant that will certainly appeal to young gangs of friends looking for a central place to eat without making their wallets cry too much, probably less so to Parisian couples leaving theOpéra Garnier!
