The Louvre Pyramid celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2019 and to celebrate these festivities, the Parisian museum puts on a great spread with a whole bunch of activities held from March 29, 2019. On the menu: many popular, festive and free events allowing visitors to discover the story of this structure.
Announced in September 1981 by the President of the Republic François Mitterrand, the project called Grand Louvre aims at “giving back to the museum the entire palace that has been so far occupied by the finance ministry”.
We count then different events within the Cour Napoléon as well as a weekend filled with family activities, concerts and dance shows, and even a photograph exhibition. A program also completed by conferences and other colloquiums exposing and analyzing the process of creating the Pyramid and this rather monumental Pyramid for the time.
Program of the Louvre Pyramid's 30th anniversary:
A project that seduced American architect of Chinese origin Ieoh Ming Pei who imagines then a more open reception area, as well as a simpler access for tourists and art lovers. And for an unparalleled brightness, the latter offers to build the now-famous glass pyramid in the middle of the Cour Napoélon. A museum now unique that we should celebrate.
Let’s help it blow off its candles, shall we, friends?
