New canteen alert! Lebanese cuisine fans are expected at Olive & Thym, a restaurant set in Paris 4th arrondissement, set a stone’s throw from Centre Pompidou. A cuisine offering us to revisit the traditional flavors while bringing flavors back to date and suiting Parisians’ and other gastronomes’ tastes.
Olive & Thym is first and foremost a family business: two brothers and their wish to give a boost to Lebanese specialties they knew all their lives. Two siblings who have decided to revolutionize this Mediterranean food while pursuing the culinary heritage of their parents, after taking over another family business, Man'ouché - galette traditionnelle libanaise, serving street food and set a short walk from their own restaurant.
A revisit of the traditional Lebanese dishes that led to the “cartounée” an exclusive dish served here and a true tribute to the family recipes that marked their childhoods. But what is it made of? It’s a dish in which cold and warm meet and blend “presenting all the best of the Lebanese flavors”.
Cartounées the editorial board has had the chance to try and particularly enjoyed. We then enjoyed one with angel’s hair-breaded chicken: a true feast for the taste buds. A dish served with salad and baby potatoes for a hearty and delicious meal. We also went for some hummus, just as delicious and an assortment of Lebanese pastries, sweet and perfect to perfectly wrap up the meal. A cuisine untouched by time and to discover urgently! Shall we go, friends?
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
