Located on the Right Bank in the west of the capital, Paris' 16th arrondissement is known as one of the City of Light's most beautiful neighborhoods. Although reputed to be a fairly residential arrondissement, the 16th is packed with beautiful monuments and addresses that are well worth a visit!
Historically, the 16th arrondissement comprises three former villages on the outskirts of the capital, whose names are still used to define certain districts: Auteuil, Passy and Chaillot. In the past, the area was home to numerous vineyards, and the Rouvray forest extended as far as the village. Today, its remnants include the famous Bois de Boulogne, on the edge of the arrondissement, home to the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the Jardin d'Acclimatation, the Stade Roland-Garros and the Hippodrome de Paris-Longchamps.
This district of the capital is one of those that plunges us directly into the idyllic landscapes of the Paris of romantic films. Among the 16th arrondissement's most iconic landmarks is the famous Place du Trocadéro, with its iconic view of the Eiffel Tower via the Parvis des Droits de l'Homme. This is also where you'll find the Palais de Chaillot, home to the eponymous theater as well as the Musée de l'Homme, the Musée de la Marine and the Cité de l'Architecture. To help you find your way around, we've put together an overview of the great things to do in Paris's 16th arrondissement!
