The Da Rosa family includes father, mother and son. This family of restaurateurs has been a fixture on the Parisian scene for over fifteen years, and has become a master in the art of good food, working hand in hand. While the father, José Da Rosa, has set up shop all over the capital with his Da Rosa restaurants, the son, Arthur Da Rosa, has taken over an old Da Rosa address and revisited it in his own way.
On rue du Mont Thabor, Arthur has transformed an old family restaurant-grocery that he had already been running for a decade into a brand-new, modernized venue, renamed Da Rosa Jr. for the occasion. There are no major changes to the decor, which features armchairs to curl up in and large bay windows that open onto the street when the weather's fine, apart from the installation of a large wooden terrace to complement the one already installed alongside the restaurant, on the perpendicular street - Da Rosa Jr is on the corner of two quiet, low-traffic streets.
The big change, however, is in the opening hours, from breakfast to dinner, as well as lunch, afternoon tea and afterwork. Extended opening hours with no breaks mean you can live to the rhythm of Da Rosa Jr, whose playlist has also been adapted, from instrumental jazz for a gentle wake-up call to electronic music for late-night aperitifs.
On the menu, the family recipe remains unchanged: good products sourced from Spain, Portugal and other countries around the Mediterranean, plus recipes that blur the lines of travel, from South America to the far reaches of Asia.
On the table, you'll find everything you need for a good meal with friends in the form of tapas: pimientos de padron (8€) carefully seasoned with coarse salt, pan tumaca (9€) to make you think you're in sunny Spain, creamy burrata (13€) to keep to yourself... A wide range of meat and fish dishes will satisfy the appetites of meat-lovers, such as a generous grilled octopus (14€) to dip in a spicy mayonnaise, razor clams (13€) with Espelette pepper, rice with cuttlefish ink and supions (21€) or the unusual and comforting cuttlefish ragout (14€).
For the curious and concerned, several vegetarian options are also available, including konjac pasta with pesto (18€) for a lunch without a guilty conscience, plates of seasonal vegetables, and bowls. The pastries, from Chambelland, are gluten-free and will satisfy the most demanding palates.
And to accompany your lunch, you can opt for a fresh fruit juice, a glass of wine or a house cocktail like the famous pisco sour (€12), light enough to sip during lunch!
