After a comptoir in the Marais and a restaurant-fromagerie on the Grands Boulevards, Monbleu is back with a brand-new, delightfully retro 60's-style venue designed by Mur.Mur Architectes: Père Lacheese, a fromagerie-buvette just a stone's throw from Père-Lachaise!
As a cheese shop, you can buy fine French artisanal, farmhouse and raw-milk cheeses from a selection of around one hundred items, including cheeses from the Alps and the Jura. But Damien Richardot, the cheese-maker-restaurateur at the head of Maison Monbleu, also offers cheeses rarely found in Parisian cheese shops, such as a juniper-smoked Picodon, an excellent triple-crème Barisien meusien (6€), a powerful Sablé de Wissant (8€), and many other cheese nuggets to mix and match to create dreamy cheese platters.
And to accompany these sometimes truly unusual little marvels (try the famous English Shropshire Blue in... yellow; 9€), this fromagerie-buvette offers a selection of carefully chosen artisanal charcuterie from France, Spain and Italy, such as saucisson d'Ardèche, noix de jambon fumée savoyarde, or Gendarmes de sanglier, sausages marinated in Pinot Noir and cumin.
And for those who prefer ready-made dishes, there's more! Père Lacheese unveils a selection of even more comforting cheese dishes, aimed at gangs of friends and local workers, including a €19.50 lunch menu. These include coquillettes with farmhouse Auvergne ham and Comté 12 mois (16€), croque truffe (16€), baked Mont d'Or (26€) and Camembun (15€) with camembert, apples and honey.
Of course, since we're talking about honoring the French terroir in all its plurality, we can't do without a glass of wine to choose from among 80 references sourced by Charlotte Lamassiaude, Père Lacheese's director, and geared towards nature, bio and biodynamics. Or are you more into Savoyard-style cocktails - Spritz à la savoyarde, Génépi Mule - made from spirits brought down from the mountains?
The other big news (no, you're not dreaming, and yes, you read that right) is that Monbleu is offering all-you-can-eat raclette until the warm weather returns! The dream of a lifetime for many gourmets. Head to Monbleu's cheese dairies and restaurants to discover the 3 all-you-can-eat raclette formulas that are sure to satisfy ogre-like appetites and melted cheese cravings.
By reservation only, you can indulge in the traditional raclette (€25), with an all-you-can-eat assortment of raclette and potatoes; or the veggie raclette (€28), with an all-you-can-eat assortment of raclette and potatoes, plus a plate of seasonal vegetables. Or for meat lovers, for the charcuterie raclette (32€), with an all-you-can-eat assortment of raclette and potatoes, accompanied by a plate of charcuterie.
Note that you can choose from a wide range of raclettes, including plain, piment d'Espelette, truffle and , and that these formulas must be taken for the whole table, but after all, no one in living memory has ever refused to eat raclette!
