Refaire le monde: le Festival de la francophonie

The Festival de la francophonie, to be held from October 2 to 6 in Paris and throughout France, has just unveiled its program.The Festival will take place at the Gaîté Lyrique (Paris 3) and at numerous partner venues in the capital, as well as in Villers-Cotterêts and other parts of France.

A first-of-its-kind event in France

Entitled Refaire le monde, this event is an invitation to discover French-speaking cultures and societies, and to meet the personalities who are inventing and building the Francophonie of today and tomorrow. Initiated and supported by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Festival de la francophonie is being launched to coincide with the XIXth Francophonie Summit, to be held in France on October 4 and 5.

Exhibitions, concerts, debates, performances, live shows, literary encounters, humor, conversations, film screenings, gastronomy, cultural workshops and meetings with numerous francophone personalities from all over the world will be on the program for these effervescent days.

Families, individuals, lovers ofart, culture and encounters, the simply curious, professionals - there's something for everyone in this eclectic program. Among the performers:Pierre de Maere, Fally Ipupa, Ronisia, DJ Moh Green, Angélique Kidjo, Alex Vizorek, Philippe-Audrey Larrue Saint-Jacques, Paul Taylor and many others.

The program :

  • Concerts:two major concert evenings will be held at the Gaîté Lyrique on October 4 and 5.

  • Cinema:audiences will be able to discover films and series presented at this renowned festival, including the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, theCinemania Francophone Film Festival , the La Rochelle Fiction Festival and the Annecy Animation Film Festival. The Festival de la francophonie will also feature meetings with directors and actors from French-language cinema.

  • Performances:The Festival de la francophonie will be offering a wide range of performances, including comedy shows, a sound poetry session, a storytelling show in French, a Live Magazine and a theatrical trial.

  • Literary encounters:Several sessions of literary encounters will be on the program for this week in the colors of the French-speaking world. Authors from the four corners of the globe will be on hand to exchange ideas with audiences, including Eric Chacour, Tristan Demers, Marguerite Abouet, Zineb Mekouar, Natacha Appanah, Jean-Luc Raharimanana, Zachary Richard, Geneviève Damas, Karim Kattan and Barbara Cassin, to name but a few.

  • Conferences and debates:The public will be able to attend exciting conferences and meetings on a wide range of topics related to the French-speaking world, including: "La francophonie pour une éducation à la citoyenneté innovante", "Mobilité, volontariat et engagement dans l'espace citoyen francophone", "Urbanisme en francophonie: quelles villes francophones voudons-nous en 2050?", " Apprivoiser l'AI : l'école du prompt ", " Manipulations, infox, AI : les enjeux de l'information à l'ère du numérique ",a series of conferences coordinated by Achille Mbembéand many others.

  • Workshops:The Festival de la francophonie will be offering a wide range of workshops, including writing workshops, workshops on the theme of humor,caligraphy workshops and much more.

  • A major exhibition "Ce qui nous rassemble : langues, langages et imaginaires": The exhibition "Ce qui nous rassemble : langues, langages et imaginaires" will bring together some 30 international artists. Whether French-speaking or not, their works question their relationship to the French language, to languages and to the imaginary worlds of the French-speaking world.
  • A large French-language bookshop:From October 2 to 6, 2024, a large ephemeral French-language bookshop will be set up in the Gaîté Lyrique forum, with nearly 5,000 books. Come and discover the diversity of French-language literary creation, and meet authors and booksellers from all over the world!
